UNM Locum Tenens Program
The UNM Locum Tenens Program provides primary care practice relief emphasizing rural and medically underserved areas
in New Mexico. The program allows primary care physicians relief for continuing education, vacation, illness, or assistance
while recruiting. The program exposes upper level primary care residents and recent graduates to practices recruiting for
primary care physicians.
Practice sites are usually billed a per diem rate for locum tenens coverage based on a sliding scale which prioritizes
rural and medically underserved practices. There are additional charges for hospital coverage and weekend and night call
availability.
Mission
Our mission is to advance the strength and sustainability of those we serve in an effort to improve access to
healthcare in communities throughout New Mexico. We place a strong emphasis on supplying high caliber staff to
rural and medically underserved areas at affordable rates.
